Journey of IQAC



ACADEMIC YEAR 2008-2009

In the academic year 2008-2009, IQAC has been instrumental in adopting the following measures:

  • While emphasizing quality in teaching learning methodology, the college under the initiative of IQAC paid special attention to making education socially relevant by admitting more students from weaker sections who are slow learners.
  • It recommended that bridge courses and remedial classes in Mathematics and Accounts be conducted for weak students. Many students are benefitting from this programme.
  • IQAC encouraged student’s participation in planning the academic calendar and involves their active participation in governance. In this regard, the college conducted a formal election for the formation of the student’s council. For the first time Electronic Voting Machines in the student’s council election was introduced.
  • The management and the IQAC were proactive in assuring the staff all the necessary support to equip themselves with new knowledge by acquiring additional qualifications. They were encouraged to participate and to present papers in National and International seminars.
  • Teachers who showed an aptitude to improve their knowledge base were given financial support as well as special incentives to develop a strong academic culture in the institution.
  • Well defined teacher accountability has evolved over the years - preparing the blueprint of the syllabus and maintaining teachers the monthly work dairy to evaluate the performance of teachers regularly. Grooming the staff to imbibe the vision and mission of the institution was considered as a matter of great importance.
  • Due importance to staff recruitment and training was given this year. A special emphasis was given for the ongoing training of the staff to become effective teachers.
  • To make the class room teaching more purposeful, IQAC instructed the teaching faculty to give equal weightage to continuous internal assessment and end semester exam.
  • IQAC initiated activities to collaborate with international universities
  • IQAC along with the management spearheaded to give financial assistance to students who come from low income group & socially backward community.
  • To help faculty and students in accessing information through the internet, due importance to make the campus wi-fi connected was given this year. The college was equipped with 200 computers with internet connectivity with two dedicated lines for this purpose.
  • Several certificate and skill oriented courses were conducted. This academic year saw nearly 350 students enroll for these additional courses.
  • To inculcate research aptitude among the students a full time research coordinator to assist students in undertaking student’s research projects was nominated.
