About Programme

The B.Com (Professional – International Accounting and Finance) at St. Joseph’s College of Commerce (Autonomous) is an integrated undergraduate programme offered in collaboration with the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), UK. The programme is designed to enable students to pursue a recognised university degree alongside a globally recognised professional qualification, providing a seamless pathway from academic learning to professional practice.

The programme integrates the B.Com curriculum with ACCA professional studies, allowing students to prepare for their university examinations and ACCA assessments through a structured and aligned learning pathway. This integrated approach helps students build a strong academic foundation while progressively developing the technical and professional competencies required in the accounting and finance profession.

Learning extends beyond the classroom through the involvement of experienced professionals, industry practitioners and experts from the accounting and finance profession. Their practical insights enable students to connect academic concepts with contemporary professional practices and develop an understanding of the evolving global business environment.

With its strong academic foundation, professional orientation and international perspective, the programme prepares students for diverse opportunities in accounting, auditing, taxation, financial management, consulting, risk and assurance, and other areas of the global finance ecosystem.

The programme is rigorous and designed for students who aspire to build a strong professional career in accounting and finance, while developing the analytical ability, ethical perspective, professional competence and global outlook expected of future finance professionals.

Objectives of the Programme

  • Build Professional Competence: Develop strong knowledge and practical skills in international accounting, finance, auditing, taxation, and risk management through learner-centred and application-oriented teaching methods.
  • Prepare Students for ACCA: Provide structured academic support and professional-level tutoring aligned with ACCA requirements, enabling students to confidently pursue the ACCA qualification alongside their degree.
  • Instil Ethics and Corporate Values: Foster integrity, accountability, transparency, and professional responsibility—essential values for individuals entrusted with financial information, decision-making, and organisational resources.
  • Enable Diverse and Progressive Career Pathways: Equip students with the expertise, analytical abilities, and professional competencies required to pursue diverse careers in finance, accounting, audit, taxation, consulting, and advisory roles, including opportunities at senior levels.
  • Develop the Whole Person: Nurture socially responsible and industry-ready graduates through mandatory outreach programmes, social visits, and industrial exposure that connect classroom learning with communities, workplaces, and diverse industry practices.
