About the Department

The Department of Business Administration at St. Joseph's College of Commerce (Autonomous), Bengaluru, is one of the flagship departments of the institution. In a business world shaped by constant technological evolution spanning across the country, it is imperative to cultivate and augment management talent at all levels. To keep in step with the rapidly changing environment, every educational institution must continually redefine and innovate itself. This led to the creation of the BBA Department at St. Joseph’s College of Commerce (SJCC) in the academic year 2004-2005. Within a short period, our department has established itself as a future-ready institute in undergraduate management studies.

With a total registered strength of 2,381 students and 300 fresh admissions in the academic year 2025–2026, the department offers three undergraduate BBA streams: BBA (Regular), BBA (Entrepreneurship) and BBA (Professional – Finance & Accountancy). The curriculum is periodically revised and approved by the Board of Studies to integrate concepts of Indian Knowledge Systems (IKS), AI ethics, cybersecurity, HR Scorecard, international trade agreements and strategic tools like OKR and Blue Ocean Strategy, culminating in a Capstone Project framework under the SEP structure. The department runs strong industry-academia collaborations with global professional bodies such as ACCA, CIMA, ISDC, Miles Education, Institute of Analytics (IoA), Grant Thornton Bharat LLP, Manartha Varsity, ProcessBee Technologies, Finmark and Disciples Corporate School. Faculty members — including the HoD, Dr. Rathi David and programme coordinators Mr. Nikhath Asrar (BBA Entrepreneurship) and Ms. Maria Sanjana (BBA Professional F&A) — drive Train-the-Trainer initiatives, Capstone EDGE and Capstone LEAP programmes, and industry-linked events. Facilities include access to Bloomberg's global data systems, Power BI and Excel analytics labs, and a dedicated Start-Up Internship ecosystem for BBA Entrepreneurship students. The department's active student clubs — Quest Club, Josephite Business Club (JBC), Entrepreneurship Learning Initiative (ELI) and Kaleido — anchor a vibrant co-curricular culture.

Vision

Message From HOD

HOD

The Department of Business Administration is built on a simple conviction: leadership must be learned, not assumed. Every student who passes through this department is pushed to pair sound academic grounding with the instincts needed to navigate real business challenges sharpening their ability to think strategically, act with integrity, and lead with a clear sense of purpose. Our academic framework doesn't stand still. It is regularly reshaped to keep pace with shifting global business trends, and it comes alive through internships, applied research, and a wide range of co-curricular initiatives. Students also step beyond the syllabus through management fests, social outreach programs, and collaborative projects spaces designed to let them experiment, take ownership, and translate ideas into outcomes.

Rooted in the college's founding values of excellence, integrity, and service, the department prepares graduates for what comes next: stepping into business management roles, gaining admission to top-tier institutions across India and abroad for further study, taking on decision-making responsibility at the management level, and building enterprises of their own carrying forward an impact that reaches well beyond the workplace.
