About the Association

The Debating Society of SJCC is a forum where logic meets eloquence. It offers students an intellectual arena to question, argue, and learn. Debating Society encourages free expression and thoughtful dissent, the vital elements of a vibrant democracy. Through intra and inter-collegiate debates, workshops, and mock parliaments, it helps students articulate ideas confidently and responsibly, proving that words, when used with reason, can spark change.

Objectives

  • To strengthen students’ public speaking, critical thinking and analytical reasoning skills.
  • To promote informed discussions on issues of social, political, and global importance.
  • To foster respect for diverse perspectives through constructive dialogue.

Outcome

The Debating Society fosters critical thinking, effective communication, and analytical reasoning by providing students with opportunities to engage in structured debates and intellectual discussions. Through active participation, students develop confidence in public speaking, persuasive argumentation, research skills, and the ability to evaluate diverse perspectives with respect and objectivity.
